  • The PTR valve. The pressure temperature relief valve is another safety valve designed to protect the tank. As the water gets hotter, the pressure increases, if it overheats the PTR valve will open and allow hot water out the drain line, releasing pressure as its replenished with cold water.
  • The ECV. The expansion control valve is designed to release the increasing pressure caused by the water expansion during the normal heating cycle. It can also protect house fixtures if the pressure in the main house lines becomes too high. Not all states require an ECV, but WA is one of them.
  • The Isolation Valve. This valve is the point of supply where you can turn off and on the water supply to the hot water system. It also has a built in non-return function to prevent back flow of the hot water into the cold lines and a pressure reduction component to ensure a safe deliverable amount of water pressure is fed into the hot water system tank.

Depending on the season and your comfort preferences, you can adjust the temperature settings accordingly.  We recommend setting it to 60°c as the tempering valve just after the hot outlet will reduce it to a safe 50-55°c. Having a stored pool of water at a higher temperature means you’ll have longer lasting hot water as you deplete it through general usage.

Your Enviroheat Heat Pump comes with several operating modes.

  • Auto – This mode allows the system to run 24/7 if needed, so if at any point the system need to heat up the water it will turn on, heat the water to the set temperature and then turn off again.
  • Eco – This mode allows the system to run in between the set times of operation. This an ideal option if you have solar power, as you can turn the system on at 7am for example and off again around 6pm. Whilst this doesn’t mean it will run from 7am-6pm, but if it needs to heat up during these times it will turn on for a few hours until the temperature is reached and turn off again.
  • Vacation – Vacation mode disables normal operation to save operating costs, turning on once a week to purge potential bacteria. (if you normally have it set on Eco mode and have solar power, you can just skip this as there’s no additional benefit to be had) To activate vacation mode, you will need to select VAC as the operating mode and then set the amount of days for the system to remain in vacation, otherwise it will be back to normal operation tomorrow.
  1. Time & Timer Settings:

Take advantage of your Enviroheat Heat Pump’s timer feature to further optimize energy usage. By programming your heat pump to operate at specific times, you can ensure that it runs when needed and avoids unnecessary energy consumption during periods when you’re away from home or sleeping. Set the timer to align with your daily routine and adjust it seasonally to optimize energy efficiency. It also comes with a secondary timer option to if you wanted the system to run from 7am to 11am, stop for 3 hours for a nap, and resume from 2pm until 7pm, you have that option.

  1. Boost Feature:

Many Heat Pump models come equipped with a boost mode to allow for a quicker rate of water heating in a pinch or to accommodate more users than normal. The Enviroheat boost function disables the heat pump temporarily and enables the element. Typically this is a very costly process, but the Enviroheat booster has a low electrical consumption rating, marginally higher than the heat pump compressor. So whilst it will heat up faster, it still tend to favour cost efficiency.
